Frequently asked questions
Is this guide suitable for beginners?
Yes! The guide was written for people who have never touched a dye bath. Every step is explained from the start, with exact measurements and photos along the way.
How and when will I receive it?
As a PDF, delivered instantly after your purchase! You can download it straight from the order confirmation page, and a copy will also be waiting in your inbox.
Do I need special equipment or a big space?
Not at all! You can perfectly dye in your kitchen, with a stove and and a little counter space! Most of what you need is probably already at home: a pot, a fine mesh strainer, a kitchen scale, and natural fiber fabric. You will also need potassium alum, which you can find at pharmacies or naturist boutiques (it is often sold as a natural deodorant stone). One thing to keep in mind: the pot and utensils you use for dyeing should be kept only for dyeing.
What fabrics can I dye?
All natural fibers are welcome in the pot! Cotton, linen, hemp, viscose, bamboo, silk, wool, alpaca... You will find a complete list in the guide.
Is it safe to do at home around kids and pets?
Yes, and it is a wonderful activity to share with children, but please label your materials, such as the alum, and store them out of reach of children and pets. Be very careful with hot pots: children should never handle them or come near them unless an adult is watching closely.
