Frequently asked questions
What fabric can I dye with this kit?
All natural fibers: cotton, linen, silk, and wool absorb plant-based dyes beautifully. Synthetic fabrics like polyester won't take the color, so we recommend choosing something made from natural materials.
Do I need any special equipment?
Just a pot, water, a heat source, and cloths you want to give colors to! Everything else is inside the kit. We recommend using a dedicated pot for dyeing, one you won't use for cooking afterwards.
How much fabric can I dye with one kit?
Each kit contains generous quantities to dye approximately 300g - 500g of dry fabric, enought for making samples and dyeing one or two medium garments.
Are natural dyes permanent?
With the potassium alum mordant included in your kit, colors are fixed and wash-resistant. Over time and with sun exposure, natural dyes may soften slightly or change color, but that gentle aging is part of their beauty.
Is this kit suitable for children?
Natural dyes can be a beautiful experience to share with children, as long as an adult is present and actively involved at all times. Children should never be left unsupervised near the stove or hot water or to handle the pot or vapor.
Are there any allergy considerations?
This kit contains natural plant-based pigments. People with sensitivities or allergies to pollen, dust or botanical ingredients should take care when handling the pigments. If in doubt, we recommend wearing gloves and a mask.
I've never dyed fabric before. Is this for me?
Absolutely! The kit includes a step-by-step guide designed for complete beginners. No experience needed, only curiosity!
